Richard Manimtim, 32, received a four-year sentence from Justice Lori Spivakis after a joint recommendation between his lawyer, Randy Janis, and Crown attorney Tanit Gilliam.
Gilliam told court Manimtim was caught in a police raid on Nov. 5, 2003, where handguns, money, five cellphones and crack were seized. He has been free on bail since his arrest and has not re-offended. Three other men have pleaded guilty and received prison sentences ranging from two to six years.
Manimtim is married with two children and has lived in Winnipeg for most of his life but could be deported upon his release from jail, Janis said.
The woman was in critical condition in hospital yesterday after being hit by a Honda Accord near the corner of McPhillips Street and Chamberlain Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Witnesses said the woman wasn't moving or talking when paramedics tended to her after the accident. They said she was crossing in the middle of the street where a concrete median divides the northbound and southbound lanes of McPhillips.
